Tony Holahan

"Bouquet" by Tony Holahan
Tony has been painting for over 20 years, and although always interested in drawing, has had no formal Art School training, and is mainly self taught.
For some years he was a gallery artist with the Portimao Gallery on the Algarve, and now exhibits his work annually in Ireland and Holland as well as showing work in exhibitions around Yorkshire.
His work is rarely topographical as he is usually striving to capture the feeling and atmosphere of an area, rather than an exact replica of a particular view, and so his subjects are usually from imagination and his own feelings for an area, rather than from life. He also feels that his methods of using the watercolour medium are difficult enough in the controlled conditions of the studio without the added trauma of outdoor struggles with the elements!
