Spring Exhibition 2010

'Woods & Waves' - An exciting exhibition exploring life around coast and woodland

The show will be led by John Thornton whose love of the sea is very evident in his work, the perfect subject constantly changing in nature and mood. More recently, John has also been drawn to the textures, shapes and colours of the surrounding landscapes, fields and hedgerows along the coast, rivers and streams. Painting in mixed media, John often uses acrylic, watercolour, gouache and ink within the same painting sometimes with the addition of collage, materials collected whilst walking or beachcombing, to create added texture.

Supporting John will be a number of Chantry House exhibitors all bringing their own style and interpretation to this subject, including Nikky Corker, Robert Dutton, Richard Keeton, Giuliana Lazzerini, Terry Logan, Lynda Logan, Ina Pickard, John Sibson and Nel Whatmore.

The exhibtion opens on Saturday, 17th April and will run until Sunday, 9th May. John Thornton will be in the gallery from 12 noon until 3.00p.m. on the Opening Day.
