David Howell

David has been exhibiting with the Chantry House Gallery since the late eighties and has returned to live in Yorkshire after 20 years in the South West. He paints in watercolour, oils and pastels and his subjects include landscape and marine, equestrian pictures related to racing, shooting, life work and anything else that takes his fancy. David firmly believes that irrespective of the subject, the only thing that really matters is the quality of the painting, and he travels widely in search of new material. His work is well known in the Middle East where he lived for many years and he frequently paints in France and elsewhere in Europe. He prefers to work plein air on location and is as likely to be found beside a canal in Venice as wandering around on the North York Moors.
