Mike Jones

Mike was born in Wales in 1951 and spent most of his working life as a teacher of art. He took early retirement from his post as Head of Art at Lancaster Royal Grammar School in 2006 to concentrate fully on his passion for painting.

He was a frequent exhibitor at the prestigious Lake Artists Exhibition at Ambleside when he lived in the north of England and since recently re-locating to Oxfordshire has accepted an invitation to become a member of The Oxford Art Society and will now exhibit on a regular basis with this society.

Mike has also had work selected for the Royal Academy Summer exhibition on several occasions. He remains a great admirer of the painterly qualities to be found in the work of Turner, Monet and Pissarro and never ceases to be inspired by the lovely words of Picasso, "art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life".
